Brick Layer
A downloadable game
Title: Brick Layer
Players: 2-6 ages 6+
Resources: Standard deck of playing cards minus the jokers
Objective: Strategically lay out all your cards before anyone else
Setup: Seven cards are dealt to each player. All remaining cards are placed face down as a draw pile and the top card is flipped over into the center of the group.
Game Mechanics:
· The center card that was flipped over is that starting foundation card. The person with the closest lower card in the same suit goes first. After this any suits can touch one another. Aces can be played as high or low.
· The rest of the cards played must be within 2 cards of the card they are laid next to. Cards can be laid on top or bottom, or halfway between the sides of each card to offset each column of the “card pathway” being created.
· Cards can extend as far as they need too long ways but only have a total of 4 rows.
· If you are laying a card that touches more than one card, your card must be within 2 cards of each card it touches. Ex. If I am laying a card between a 10 and a 7 I could only lay an 8 or a 9. A card cannot be played if it were to be a queen and a 7 because there is no card within 2 of both.
· If you do not have a playable card you must draw from the deck until you can lay a card. Once you get to one card you must yell “Brick”
Outcome: First person to lay all their cards wins
